Have you never played guitar? Did you play guitar years ago, and are looking to pick it up again? Have you been playing for years, but feel like you could use some work in a specific area? I can help!
For beginners, I have a comprehensive system that I've developed over my 20 years as a guitar instructor. Rather than using method books, which typically use songs like "Yankee Doodle" to teach the instrument, I have put together a lengthy list of familiar and fun songs from the '50s through today, each demonstrating a specific technique.
For self-taught players, or people who haven't played in a while, I have plenty of experience with quickly determining what you already know, what bad habits you may have developed, and what you would benefit from working on most.
For experienced players, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Guitar Performance, and have been playing professionally for over 20 years, in a wide variety of musical situations. If there's a specific style of music you want to work on - rock, blues, jazz, classical, acoustic fingerstyle, etc. - I'd be happy to help you with it.
I teach Wednesdays at my home in St. Paul, Mon./Tues./Thurs. at MacPhail Center for Music's Chanhassen location, and Saturday afternoon at MacPhail's main location in Minneapolis.
