SECURITY SPECIALIST (TRAINING SPECIALIST)

A Security Specialist (Training Specialist), GS, 0080, 09, Reviews all operations, mobility, contingency, and exercise plans to ensure combat readiness for the SF Squadron. Analyzes exercise and contingency plans to determine required SF actions in support of mission requirements. Evaluates all equipment, manning and training requirements to meet wartime, contingency, deployment, and pre-planned tasking. Coordinates with other base organizations on applicable plans. Responsible for proper security, classification, and storage of classified documents. Compiles information by identifying shortfalls and recommending corrective actions to Status of Resources and Training System (SORT) monitor on the status of SF personnel and training in all three classified reports. Serves as the alternate SORTs monitor. Oversees the coordination, review, and implementation of SF manning authorizations and military personnel assignments. Creates and implements the unit Force Management Plan for all Unit Type Code (UTC) teams as directed by MAJCOM. Recommends organizational change and identifies needs or problem areas. Serves as the subject matter expert and consultant to the unit commander on all matters pertaining to the availability and management of the SF training program to meet the needs of the organization and mission. Develops, administers, and oversees the management of the unit's training programs to supervisors. Instructs supervisors and trainers on the concepts, scope, and objectives of training programs. Monitors the training necessary to ensure understanding of the AF management system. Forecasts and submits Deployment For Training requirements in coordination with SF commander to ANG NGB/A7. Advises the SF commander regarding support requirements to accomplish contingency and deployment operations. Conducts unit self-inspections and assessments. Represents SF at wing training meetings. Provides input for base-wide operational, deployment, contingency, exercise planning, coordinating, and evaluating committees. When needed or directed, performs and enforces the full range of security forces duties within the military installation. Incumbent may be exposed to the day-to-day dangers of SF associated with law enforcement and security duties. Incumbent has full powers to detain, pursue, or direct detaining of person(s) fleeing a crime scene, active shooter, or attempting to resist arrest. Carries a firearm as required or directed. Experience:
To qualify an applicant, apply and evaluate the applicant's competencies, experiences, completed education, learned skills, obtained knowledge, endorsed abilities, and training program accomplishments. The following six basic qualification criteria are required to successfully meet the basic qualification factors within an applicable career level in one of the seven specified security program disciplines:
- Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; - Ability to clearly enunciate English without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit; effective two-way radio or telephone communication; - Ability to write English in reports and presentation formats; - Ability to communicate -orally and in writing- clearly and effectively; - Ability to assess body language and perceive immediate risk levels; and, - Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Experienced in directing, obtaining, maintaining, or providing for proper usage of Security Forces equipment in order to meet unit objectives. Experiences included the tracking of operational and performance data on tools and equipment to provide feedback for appropriate activity. Experienced in the procedures for repairing tools and equipment and processed timely calibration of equipment. Experienced in performing liaison duties with US Army, Air Force, and other federal agencies to ensure proper acquisition, use, and maintenance of major equipment items required to support the unit. Experienced in developing plans for the use of physical security equipment that ensured the most efficient and economical combination of manpower and equipment. Competent in implementing Department of Defense, US Army, or US Air Force policies and plans. Experienced in coordinating and monitoring short and long term equipment requirements. Skilled in proper training on various types of security equipment in regards to operation, care, and maintenance. Experiences involved reviewing and analyzing equipment utilization and failure rates, repair and replacement costs, and technological advancements. Experienced on functional coordination methods to accurately estimate the cost of technologically advanced future equipment needs. Experiences involved requests for security equipment, determining needs and justifications, reviewing appropriate directives and other source material, and preparing any required forms. Competent in preparing briefings through the review of resources management reports and inventories to advise leadership of the resource situation as it affects the unit mission. Experienced in providing feedback to supervisor or commander on the status of all assigned and forecasted weapons, vehicles, equipment, and supplies. Experienced on preparing requisitions for supplies, materials, equipment, and services necessary to support the function, to include self-help projects. Has expertise and knowledge of specialized equipment and ability to determine suitable substitutes. Experiences involved monitoring source allowances, validating requests, and processing documentation to procure equipment. Able to maintain and utilize current federal supply catalogs, stock lists, government supply catalogs, cross-reference lists, commercial manufacturer's parts lists, and catalogs. Skilled in researching documents to identify items by stock number or stock class, part number, item specifications, quantity, availability, recommends source of procurement, unit price, total cost, and sole source justification, as applicable. Experienced in working computerized status files concerning tools, equipment, and materials on order. Experienced on performing quality assurance by reviewing management data to ensure materials and tools are correctly accounted and returned within specified time periods. Experienced in managing cost data cancelling outstanding requisitions or transfer material to residue. Knowledgeable in closing-out material cost data for work orders and job orders. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
