Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Degree:
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) from an accredited educational institution OR Exemption:
You are exempt from the education requirements above if (A) you are a current DoD employee, in any occupational series, who has served on or before September 30, 2000, as follows:
(1) Served as a GS/equivalent-1102 position or contracting officer position with authority to award or administer contracts above the SAT in any Federal agency, OR (2) Served as a military member in a comparable military occupational specialty; OR (B) you are a current member of the armed forces who occupied a position within an occupational specialty similar to the GS-1102 series on or before September 30, 2000. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Experience requirement for Contract Specialist:
GS-07:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting with monitoring contracts for compliance with applicable laws; maintaining contract files; and assisting with contacting contractors to clarify issues on contractual requirements. GS-09:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes monitoring contracts for compliance with applicable laws; maintaining contract files; assisting with contacting contractors to clarify contractual requirements; assisting in performing pre-award and post-award functions; and preparing and/or issuing solicitations and amendments. GS-11:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting in pre-award and post-award functions for a variety of supplies, services, and/or construction contracts and assisting Senior Contracting Officers or Contract Specialists with contracting functions, such as acquisition planning, price/cost analysis, administration, coordination, and control, from receipt of the requirement through contract close out. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
