Supplier Quality Engineer

Sensata Technologies is looking for a hands on Quality Engineer who is responsible for developing, evaluating, and improving quality, production, and processing methods and controls in manufacturing to achieve operational excellence. This position requires the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with engineering, material planning, and operations, to work and communicate across various levels of the organization.
This position, under the direction of the Operations Manager, works closely with Design Engineering, Supply Chain Management, and Manufacturing to support the day-to-day operations. The role will require engagement in the areas of production quality, supplier quality, and customer quality. The individual will lead quality improvement projects by identifying statistical methods relevant to the supply chain and manufacturing processes. Responsibility for the Quality Management System and ISO compliance is also part of the role.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the areas of production quality, supplier quality, and customer quality.
Setting quality goals and leading improvement projects to achieve quality goals.
Leading teams and/or projects to resolve customer quality issues.
8d/Corrective action management to address customer quality concerns
Work with customers to satisfy their quality requirements.
Document and implement quality improvements based on lessons learned.
Ensuring compliance with ISO standards
Developing new or improved manufacturing and testing processes necessary to achieve the performance and cost requirements of future device applications including: Manufacturing test procedures / fixtures, process documentation, problem solving.
Participating in advanced quality planning activities and influencing product designs through the use of APQP tools.
Facilitating the successful launch of new products.
Testing sample lines and process development for new equipment
Troubleshoot manufacturing, quality and assembly issues using failure mode effect analysis (FMEA).
Developing, reviewing, and improving the QMS including control plans, work instructions, and FEMA
Leading and/or supporting change management efforts
Qualifying new tooling, fixturing, and equipment.
Manage test equipment for contract manufactures
Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to insure processes are capable and have sufficient controls in place to meet Sensata quality requirements.
Kaizen facilitator, supporting culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization using Lean and Six Sigma principals.

Responsibilities:
Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
Knowledge in circuit board production and metal fabrication
Influencing product designs to ensure reliable manufacture (mfg engineer)
Developing new or improved manufacturing and testing processes that are necessary to achieve the quality requirements of future device applications
Qualifying high mix, low volume, short lead time assembly/test equipment.
Support improvement projects to reduce cycle time, defects and manufacturing cost.
Setting up sample lines and process development of new equipment
Work with lean manufacturing tools and principals eliminating waste
Requirements:
Minimum BS degree in engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial,)
3-5 years' experience in manufacturing as Quality or Process engineer preferably in high mix, low volume, short lead time manufacturing environment of electromechanical devices/systems.
10-15% Travel initially, Domestic; 5% thereafter Domestic and International
Experience with Agile. Minitab and SolidWorks a plus
Advanced Skills in Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and Data Bases
Excellent communication skills written and verbal
Strong planning and organization skills
Ability to positively influence and build relationships with team members
Engineering aptitude to participate in design reviews and assist during debug & qualification to include safety and ergonomics
Ability to identify & correct problems by utilization of root cause problem solving skills and experimental methods such as DOE
Functional understanding of advanced quality planning tools including FMEA, Control plans, to meet QMS requirements
Experience with lean methodology and single piece flow manufacturing processes in a electromechanical box build environment, including product calibration and final test is desired
Experience with, high velocity & quality manufacturing preferred vs. batch process environments.
Experience with lean principals and tactics to include Visual Management, TOC, Value Stream Mapping, Tact Time and Process Balancing, Q@S, 5s, Kanban, Set Up Reduction, Reporting & Metrics.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
