Job Summary Join the Collection Division at the Minnesota Department of Revenue as a Revenue Collection Officer! Our Revenue Collection Officer positions are unique in comparison to traditional debt collection roles.
These positions focus on providing service, guidance, and education to our customers.
In a typical day, you will have the opportunity to do research, documentation (process client correspondence, review cases, etc.
), negotiate payment arrangements, and handle an average of 15
calls daily.
We set you up for success by providing six months of paid training that is focused on learning Minnesota tax laws and how to resolve customer concerns.
A successful candidate is someone who enjoys providing a positive customer experience, utilizes excellent communication skills, organization skills, and be able to prioritize.
Additionally, someone who can respond to taxpayer concerns with empathy and patience, all while striving toward solutions for resolving taxpayer accounts.

This position is eligible for telework.
There may be occasional required days at the St.
Paul office.
Teleworking employees are required to live in Minnesota or in a state bordering Minnesota.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of customer service experience.
Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Edge.
Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
Experience communicating effectively with internal partners and external customers.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a virtual environment.
Prior collection experience.
Strong negotiation skills.
Ability to multitask with multiple computer applications.
Experience understanding and explaining laws, policies, regulations, or procedures to customers.
Able to effectively communicate and respond to customers of diverse backgrounds.
Physical Requirements Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
Additional Requirements Prior to an offer of employment, a background check will be conducted.
