Paul, MN, is now hiring a Memory Care Recreation Therapist for a full time position.
Dellwood Gardens is located adjacent to Swede Hollow Park and Mississippi Market.
The property's generous garden space is part of our mission to provide residents with a therapeutic natural environment in an urban setting.
Fruits and vegetables grown in our gardens are prepared and served to residents when in season.

Primary purpose:
The Memory Care Recreation Therapist will champion the daily programming in the memory care area using the APIE (Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) process.
This position reports to the Director of Recreation and collaborates with the recreation team to plan and lead celebrations, outings, and design innovative programming to meet resident needs.
The Memory Care Recreation Therapist will maintain a safe environment for residents with dementia while accompanying them on and off the memory care unit.
Qualifications:
College degree required.
Minimum of 2 years working with older adult population in dementia care required.
Ability to work regular schedule of weekends and occasional evenings for special events required.
Preferences:
Graduate of an accredited Recreational Therapy Program or Certification as an Activities Director preferred.
CTRS certification or eligible within 9 months preferred.
Management experience preferred.
Other abilities and knowledge:
Possess the ability to build trust with residents, including memory care residents.
Possess strong collaborative team building skills.
Possess a sensitivity and aptitude for working with older adults.
Be willing and able to share leisure education with RA (Resident Assistant) staff and other supportive people in residents' lives to enhance residents' quality of life.
Key
Responsibilities:
Conduct an in-person initial comprehensive recreational assessment with additional information gathered from residents' supports.
Enter this assessment into the electronic medical records system for communication with care team.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on a weekly basis to manage individualized care and develop a comprehensive care plan for each resident.
Plan and implement group and individual activities to improve or maintain the participants' cognitive, physical, social, psychosocial and artistic needs.
Plan and implement activities for dementia-specific population.
Modify activities to residents' visual, audio and other needs.
Oversee daily flow of dementia activities, gathering group members and providing redirection as needed for participation.
Activities may focus on small groups, one-on-one programming, and sensory stimulation.
Provide recreational education and training to support memory care staff members as appropriate.
Creatively plan, develop, and implement varied activities to meet diversified needs.
Maintain participants' medical records and fulfill charting and reporting requirements.
Provide leisure education to participants and caregivers for activity modification, use of adaptive equipment, activity skill development.
Maintain general order in the activity's areas, including daily clean-up, routine supply requests and removing any unsafe items.
Develop and post a biweekly calendar of activities in collaboration with recreation team.
In the absence of the Director of Recreation, will oversee the Recreation Department.
Participate in and support quality improvement initiatives, such as additional dementia care training.
Act as a leader, coaching memory care RA staff on aspects of dementia care training and philosophy.

Benefits:
Wages commensurate with experience; wage range of $22.
