Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years breeding and farrowing and general farm labor experience- Be able to perform responsibilities and duties successfully- Strive for continual improvement in all areas and functions as manager- Team leader for the sow unit staff and represent the sow farm and owners as a positive example and leader in the community and industry-Associates Degree or equivalent degree from technical college or at least 3-5 years of experience and related training in sow farm management or work in breeding/gestation and/or farrowing is preferred- Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language is required
Job Description:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Swine General Manager for this progressive Minnesota producerManage, supervise, and complete tasks involved in the daily operations responsibilities for a farrow to finish hog farm with a feed mill for an independent, family-owned operationManagement of the sow unit, wean to finish barns, gilt development, and feed mill in accordance with procedures in place - Assist with hiring, training and delegation of staff in all areas including breeding/gestation, farrowing, gilt development, information systems, maintenance, and feed mill - Responsible for care of the animals including health and nutrition programs - Communicate problems and solutions with staff and management through regular meetings and daily interaction - Manage the completion of daily chores and other farm duties, including transportation to and from slaughter - Coordinate completion of daily chores such as feeding, pig movements, etc- Manage sow, gilt and piglet flow, arrow to finish - Monitor for health issues daily and ensure all health protocols are administered and recorded timely and properly - Coordinate with vet weekly to monitor and resolve health issues - Maintain clean barn and adherence by all employees to biosecurity procedures - Manage ventilation to ensure proper environment and animal comfort - Coordinate nutrition program to obtain proper sow condition and piglet growth - Coordinate inventory management of health and maintenance supplies - Coordinate maintenance issues and follow through to ensure completion - Communicate with owners regarding approvals for expenditures - Manage accurate input of production data including daily forms input, corrections, and problem solving, analyze weekly records owners - Coordinate weekend work schedule with all employees - Provide direction, and discipline if needed to ensure compliance to protocols - Coordinate hiring to maintain adequate staffing to meet production goals - Manage farm personnel and provide training for area managers and employees - Maintain a clean and safe working environment - Continue to strive to attain the production and performance goals of the unit - Produce, and manage annual budget for the operation
