If so, read onWe are searching for an Operations Forecast Senior Engineer who will be an integral part of developing MISO's forecasting models as the electric grid transitions toward decarbonization, decentralization and digitalization.
This role will provide impact to over 45 million people by forecasting and identifying elevated risks on the horizon and providing that information to our Control Room Operators to drive reliable operation decisions and market outcomes.
As our Operations Forecast Senior Engineer , you will have dedicated time to develop load forecasting model enhancements and renewable forecasting improvements as our electric grid quickly transitions to a fleet with more solar, distributed energy resources, electrification, and extreme weather impacts.
Also, our Operations Forecast Senior Engineer will work on a highly committed, diverse, and collaborative team which includes meteorologists, engineers, data scientists, and economists.

In one year, you will know you're successful if you are:
Mastering MISO's load forecasting model and forecasting process.
Able to work with control room operations, and other areas, to provide forecasts and risk assessments.
Current with MISO Reliability Imperative and Future portfolio and has understanding of how forecasting should be advanced to aid the transitioning grid.
Collaborate well with team on a portfolio of projects under Uncertainty Management and Improve Forecasting.
We are looking for hardworking candidates who have a t least a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Economics , or related field, along with at least four years' experience in the energy field.
While not required, it would be advantageous if you have any of the following:
Master's degree and/or above.
Experience in RTO or utility load or renewable forecasting or equivalent.
Experience applying statistical methods computer applications (e.
g.
, SAS, Python, SQL) and tools in forecasting and analysis role.
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
