Department Overview Our St.
Paul 6th floor is a 26-bed pediatric medical/surgical unit that cares for a spectrum of children from infants to young adults suffering from both acute and chronic medical conditions.
Our team of dedicated professionals specializes in the care of patients with diabetes, respiratory conditions and surgical post-operative care with a specialty in urological surgery.
We also provide medical stabilization to children with eating disorders through the Center for the Treatment of Eating Disorders within our 6th floor unit.
Our patients have an average length of stay ranging from days to several weeks for a specialty diagnosis.
Patients are cared for by strong inter-disciplinary teams that include child life, social work, integrative medicine, dietitians, case managers and other specialists.
We rely on teamwork, with open and respectful communication, and promote an environment that encourages learning and professional growth.
Our team is committed to providing excellent care to our patients and families.
Position Summary Provides safe patient care as delegated by licensed nursing staff and maintains equipment and supplies per unit standard.
Completed a nursing assistant course or equivalent experience, or completed a nursing or health care related clinical practicum course.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience One year of previous Nursing Assistant experience or equivalent experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities Proficient communication, critical thinking, and prioritization skills required.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English to perform functions of the position.
Skills in basic computer operation.
