Job Summary This announcement will be used to fill multiple positions at this location.
This position exists to protect life and property; to create and maintain a safe and secure environment; and prevent disruption of business of government agencies, through active intervention and observation, education, and enforcement on the Capitol complex.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Public Safety/Security, or closely related field; OR Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Public Safety/Security, or closely related field:
OR Two (2) years of experience as a Security Officer, Crime Prevention Officer, or Peace Officer.
AND High School Diploma/GED and a valid MN Driver's License.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with the public and stakeholders.
Ability to follow oral and written directions, speak, read, and understand the English language sufficiently to read and apply security procedures, write reports, and interact with customers.
Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications Post secondary course work in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or related field.
Formal first aid/CPR training (Red Cross or equivalent) Proficient with Microsoft Word and Outlook computer applications.
Working knowledge of the Capitol complex and associated grounds.
Physical Requirements Light:
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as files boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and moving and transporting light objects frequently.
Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extend periods.
