0 Temporary 9 hours ago Full Job Description Position Summary Youth Recreation Instructors will be responsible for instructing and leading youth in various recreation programs throughout the summer in a safe, fun and appropriate environment.
Youth Recreation Instructors may choose working as a Day Camp Counselor, Youth Sports Instructor, or both based on what program(s) they are interested in.
Additionally, weekday and weekend hours will be available at our municipal pool concessions.
This position will report to the Recreation Supervisor.
The season runs from June 12 - August 16, 2023.
Days and hours are anticipated to be between 20-40 hours a week and are dependent upon program registration.
Successful candidate must attend mandatory training on June 10.
Due to possible school schedule changes, these dates are tentative.
Applications will be accepted until positions are filled; however, early consideration will be given to applicants who submit their application before March 31, 2023.
Primary Duties Implements, assesses, and instructs a variety of youth recreation programs.
Creates a positive and fun recreation atmosphere in the park.
Provides excellent customer service to parents/guardians and participants.
Enforces facility rules and regulations.
Monitors inventory and advises supervisor when product stock starts to get low.
Handles sale of products to pool patrons, including collection of payment.
Balances cash drawer daily, including completion of a deposit slip and ensuring cash drawer has designated amount for next day's operations.
Uses basic first aid procedures to assist injured participants.
Contacts EMS as needed.
Works independently to solve problems and respond to issues quickly and safely; contacts supervisors for emergencies.
Maintain proper documentation for all accidents and incidents.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 16 years of age.
Experience working with youth.
Must be available the entire season from June 12-Ausgut 16, 2023 on assigned days, no weekends unless working at the pool concessions.
Due to staffing requirements for programs, time off request will need to be limited.
Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working in recreational programs Any combination of CPR/AED/First Aid Certification(S) Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be polite, courteous, approachable, and respectful.
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Able to work well with others in a team atmosphere.
While performing duties of this job, must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear; handle or operate objects, tools or equipment; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; kneel, crouch or crawl; lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Ability to interact with children and adults to provide a safe and fun recreation experience.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
